Five minutes with Mia Wright-Thompson, Product Planning Specialist
1. What inspired you to work in the travel industry?
Full disclaimer, I had never really thought about it. I have always worked within the food industry in various roles and there was always something new to learn and
new ways of working, be it a chef in a restaurant or developing products for coffee shops. When the opportunity arose to take my creativity and skillset, and develop
products to be eaten 30,000 feet in air, I could not say no!
2. What do you enjoy the most in your role here?
I am never not learning; the specifics of what I do are constantly evolving and by nature of my role I get to have a bit of fun. I enjoy working as part of a wider team whereby regardless of roles and titles everyone communicates with each other. Ultimately, I am surrounded by people sharing their wealth of experience and knowledge, that I would not have otherwise come across.
3. What do you enjoy the most about working in travel in general?
The fast pace, the actual travel when the opportunity arises and how differently I now view my own personal travel choices. There is so much that goes on
behind the scenes to ensure you have what you need and when you need it on board, that never crossed my mind before when travelling.
4. What is your favourite travel destination?
This is such a tricky one because there are so many that I love, but one that really aligns with me, and my love of food (and vino) is Italy. Be it taking in the incredible
architecture, enjoying the peaceful views on Lake Como or being taught how to make pasta by a Nonna in a tiny restaurant down the winding lanes
of Bologna; Italy you have my heart.
5. What do you enjoy doing outside work?
Yoga, hiking and finding my next ‘favourite’ dish.
