Five minutes with Paul Murphy – Head of Supply Chains and Operations

1.    What inspired you to work in the travel industry?

My professional background up until joining Tourvest, was food manufacturing and I was in the food industry for 21 years. However, when the opportunity
came to work in the travel industry and to use the professional tools that I had gained in the last  20 plus years, it was a no brainer. I really enjoy travelling, visiting
new places and witnessing different cultures. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do both.

2.    What do you enjoy the most in your role here at Tourvest?

The size of our company and the difference we make to our customers. There is very much a “can do” mentality, and this is something I can get on board with.
We have a great global dynamic team with vast experience across all areas of our business to deliver our customers requirements.

3.    What do you enjoy the most about working in travel in general?

Obviously the travel when the opportunity arises, however more importantly, meeting and working with new people daily, understanding different wants and
challenges that can occur, especially in the on-board retail sector and working to resolve these challenges.

4.    What is your favourite travel destination?

I have two favourites I’m afraid; One is New York. I love everything about it. The hustle and bustle, the way Manhattan is broken down in to different grid and
sectors. The architecture is like nowhere on earth and the food just as good, especially Morton’s Steak Restaurant on 5th Avenue and for a drink Connolly’s on
47th Street. My other favourite destination is a place called Leenane in Connemara, County Galway. For views, scenery, food, drink, and the Craic, this is my
home from home. Leenane is a small remote village on the west coast of Ireland right on the Atlantic coast. One to look up and visit if you just want to get away
        from the hustle and bustle.

5.    What do you enjoy doing outside work?

Spending time with family and friends, watching my kids and their afterschool sporting activities, walking my dogs and travel if there is time.
